In September 2016 we have reached our greatest number of links with schools in our community providing a mixture of PE and After School Gymnastic Provision in addition to our 400 strong membership across our 3 sites of Ruthin, Denbigh and Llangollen who access our artistic recreational programme from as young as 3 years and advance to our pathway of “TeamGym” with our oldest members proud to be over 16 years old.  Ysgol Gellifor, Ysgol Brynclwyd, Ysgol Cefn, Ysgol LlanddulasYsgol Borthyn, Ysgol Brofamau, Ysgol Caer Drewyn, Ysgol Pendref, Ysgol Frongoch, Ysgol Glan Gele, are all established partnerships with the club and we look forward to welcoming more in 2017, just get in touch.

Our gymnastics classes all run from accessible community leisure centres with a purpose provision in each centre to accommodate the vast amount of equipment we train the gymnasts on. Our recreational classes predominantly access the artistic pieces such as beam, bars, floor and vault and the advancing gymnasts diversify with advance vault, floor and trampet into our “Team Gym” development pathway. We very much see ourselves as a family unit of coaches and parents who commit to the sport and to the club for many years as they enjoy the diverse programme of events on offer and enter our Coaching Academy at 13 years.

In 2014 Ruthin and Denbigh Club truly established our links with Barnardo’s, both through educational workshops and the pilot I’M IN Gymnastics holiday sessions which ran over the summer for service users of Barnardo’s.  The “I’M IN Gymnastics” and “GymForAll” are new initiatives from British Gymnastics and are fully incorporated into our 2016 club programme, as they truly reflect our inclusive philosophy as a club and will ensure all our gymnasts reach their individual potential.

Now in its 16th year, Ruthin Gymnastics Club was established by Daniel Joyce and Mel Royles back in the millenium year of 2000. Tamsin Jones became Head Coach of Ruthin Gymnastic Club in 2004 and opened Denbigh Gymnastics Club in 2005 and more recently Llangollen Gymnastics Club in 2011.  The Gymnastic Clubs are proud to have the commitment of some of those original members who now form its strong senior team. Ruthin Gymnastics Club currently provides a training base for 35 Leaders and Coaches, delivering professional gymnastics sessions to over 400 gymnasts per week.

Through the community centres of  Ruthin Leisure Centre, Denbigh Leisure Centre and Llangollen Leisure Centre in the County of Denbighshire,  the Ruthin & Denbigh Gymnastic Club Coaches can offer a full development programme for children aged 3-18 years with exciting long term opportunities. Sessions delivered by qualified British Gymnastic Coaches with CRB provision, ensuring a quality and safe environment for your child to learn“.   Head Coach – Tamsin Jones says: “it is important to create and maintain links with schools in the local community, to allow access to as many children as possible and get them involved in the fantastic sport of  gymnastics and its many opportunities“.

gymmarkSafe, Effective, Child-Friendly

The aim of the Club is to coach each individual child to reach their full potential in gymnastics within a  safe, effective and child centred, fun learning environment under the guidance of appropriately qualified coaches.

We encourage and value parental involvement in the club. Our “Happy Face Sessions” provide an opportunity termly for parents and family to observe training sessions without contravening our Health and Safety regulations.

The members of the Club are organised into groups according to their age, ability and individual needs, to ensure your child has the best positive experience each session and coaches will be pleased to discuss the training programme and your child’s needs with you.

We provide a child/member-centred, coach-led programme and will endeavour to help your child develop to their optimum level of performance.  Our coaches are all British Gymnastics qualified coaches at the appropriate level and have been screened for their suitability to work with children.  A Welfare Officer has been appointed by the Club to deal with any child protection concerns.

Why take part in Gymnastics?

WG LOGO PNGGymnastics is a wonderful sport for boys and girls, and can help them develop coordination, strength, balance, flexibility, which underpins all other sports. It can also build self-esteem, and improve skills such as self-discipline and concentration. Plus, being a gymnast is a lot of fun!
The Right Age – through partnership with Denbighshire County Council Leisure Centres, Ruthin & Denbigh Gymnastic Club can offer a full development programme for children aged 3-18 years with exciting long term opportunities. Children can start in gymnastics as young as 18 months in our “Gymmi Bear Tot” parent and toddler class. Classes are grouped by age, and as your child progresses in the sport, s/he will later be grouped by ability level. Sessions are delivered by qualified British Gymnastic Coaches with an enhanced CRB provision and Safeguarding & Protecting Children, ensuring a quality and a safe environment for your child to learn.
