Boys & Girls Team Gym

BEGINNERS LEVEL 10 (CLASS 10) PROGRESSING TO NATIONAL LEAGUE LEVEL 4 (CLASS 4)

Team Gym has many different levels of performance. Gymnasts can progress skills and work towards transitional moves whilst often remaining in the same team. This allows for friends to stay together even while their skill progression changes.

In Team Gym, a team performs together rather than competing mainly as individuals. The three key areas are tumbling, trampet and vault. In tumbling, gymnasts perform fast runs of acrobatic skills such as rolls, cartwheels, walkovers, jumps, handsprings and forward/backward somersaults. In trampet and vault, gymnasts perform jumps and somersaults.

Team Gym is judged based on difficulty, execution, technique and how well the team performs together.

At RDGC, qualified specialist coaches drive this standard, working on progression to tumbling flight sequences and streaming skills performing at both local, regional and national levels within their RDGC team.

Each gymnast is monitored individually each term through baseline scores and skill consideration performance.

RDGC offer a full programme in Team Gym (for both boys and girls), from Tiny Movers (U5s), through to Adult Gymnastics, within a framework of development from beginners to National League and British Tumbling RCC Level.

Women's Artistic Gymnastics

RDGC offers Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) as a talent development pathway, and both members and non-members can attend the advertised trials periodically throughout the year.

Our WAG pathway offers squad opportunities for gymnasts aged 4–18, with progression routes designed around each gymnast’s ability, experience and goals.

All gymnasts wishing to access our WAG squads must complete a WAG Squad Trial. Following their trial, our coaches will recommend the most suitable squad pathway — Grades or GFA (Gymnastics for All) — allowing each gymnast to progress at the right pace for them.

WAG squad gymnasts train across Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor, developing strength, flexibility, technique, tumbling and performance. Training typically ranges from 4–8+ hours per week, depending on age, level and individual goals.

Gymnasts on the WAG pathway may also have the opportunity to access advanced tumbling training alongside their squad training, developing powerful tumbling, somersaults and advanced acrobatic skills up to National level.

Whether their goal is to develop, progress, compete or simply become the best gymnast they can be, our pathway provides opportunities for every gymnast to thrive.
